Privacy Policy
This policy covers this website. It is deliberately short, because this site is deliberately simple: it is a set of pages describing a therapy practice. There is no form to fill out, no account to create, no newsletter, and nothing tracking you from page to page.
If you are looking for how your health information is protected once you become a client, that is a separate and more detailed document: the Notice of Privacy Practices. This policy is only about visiting the website.
What This Site Does Not Do
Being clear about the absences is probably more useful than the presences:
- It does not set cookies.
- It does not use Google Analytics or any other analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking service.
- It has no contact form, no intake form, no chat widget, and no scheduling tool. Nothing on this site collects information you type.
- It does not build a profile of you, and it does not follow you to other websites.
- It does not use artificial intelligence to interact with you, answer questions, or provide any form of advice or assessment.
- It never sells or shares personal information. There is nothing to sell, and I would not sell it if there were.
Information Collected When You Visit
Server logs
This website is hosted by Netlify, which - as essentially every web host does - records standard technical request information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the date and time. These logs exist for security, reliability, and abuse prevention. I do not use them to identify individual visitors and I do not combine them with any other information about you.
Fonts
The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts. Loading them means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which discloses your IP address and basic browser information to Google. Google states it does not use Google Fonts requests for advertising or profiling. This is the only third party this site contacts, and it receives no information about you beyond that request.
Links you choose to use
The phone and email links on this site open your own phone or email application. Nothing is transmitted anywhere until you decide to send it. If you email or call me, I receive what you send - see below.
If You Contact Me
When you email, call, or text, I receive your message and the contact details that come with it, and I keep them for as long as needed to respond and to meet my professional record keeping obligations. I use that information for one purpose only: to reply to you and, if we go forward, to arrange care. I do not add you to any mailing list.
Please remember that email, text message, and voicemail are not secure or confidential channels, and they are not monitored outside of business hours. A short message saying you would like to talk is perfectly fine to send. Please save clinical detail for our conversation, where I can protect it properly. And please do not use these channels in an emergency.
Reaching out does not create a therapist-client relationship. That begins only after we have spoken, completed informed consent, and agreed to work together.
Third Parties
The only categories of third parties that receive any information in connection with this website are the website host (Netlify) and the font provider (Google Fonts), both as described above, and both only for the technical purpose of delivering the site to you. No third party is given information for its own marketing purposes.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because this site performs no tracking of any kind, there is nothing for such a signal to switch off - your privacy on this site is the same either way. I also do not permit third parties to collect information about your activity across other websites through this one.
If You Are a California Resident
California law gives residents rights over their personal information, including the right to know what is collected, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. This is a small solo practice that almost certainly falls below the thresholds at which the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, and health information held by this practice is protected instead by HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act - which are stricter. Regardless of what is technically required, you are welcome to ask me what information I hold about you and to ask me to correct or delete anything that is not part of a record I am professionally obligated to keep. Just call or email.
Children
This practice serves adults, and this site is not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Clinical records and telehealth sessions are handled through HIPAA-compliant systems covered by business associate agreements, entirely separately from this website. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, which is why the cautions above about email and text are worth repeating rather than glossing over.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Because there is no mailing list, posting is how notice is given - so the date at the top of this page is the reliable indicator. Please check back if this matters to you.
